I attained my BSc. in Knowledge Engineering and my MSc. in Artificial intelligence at Maastricht University. After my studies I worked as a software engineer until I returned to academia for my PhD. I finished my PhD. in 2025 within the Clinical Data Science group at Maastricht University under the supervision of prof. Dr. Andre Dekker. During my PhD. I developed ways to analyse data in a privacy preserving manner when the data is spread across multiple institutes and may not be shared. Currently I work at the health promotion group of Maastricht University as a postdoctoral researcher. I research various diseases, for example to build better screening models or to gain insight in the disease itself. My work focuses on the link between health and the patient’s environment. This takes into account both the physical and social environment. I am focussed on infectious disease, but have also done research into other diseases such as cancer. An important secondary task within my work is to support my colleagues when choosing the appropriate machine learning solutions for their analyses. In addition to this I perform research into the use of uncertainty within modelling. In addition to my research I am active within the Diversity and Inclusion Group at the university. Within this group we strive to make the university a better employer for employees who have a disability or chronic illness as well as neurodiverse employees. We advise the university on relevant policies regarding these topics. Research topics: Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, Federated Learning, Uncertainty, Privacy Protecting Analyses, Cryptography, Health |
